If Today Was Your Last Day

Hey World,

I've grown so much over the years, and it was thanks to my blessed experiences and the individuals who have impacted me positively. I was asked "If today was your last day, how would you spend it?", this simply stated but thought-provoking question caused me to conceptualize life. Have I done what I was sent on this earth to do? Did I live life to the fullest? Did I ever reach true happiness?

If today was my last day I would definitely be depressed; however, I would try my endeavor best to make the most of it.

I would make sure I get to tell my little brother to live life to the fullest, and make him know that he can beat his sickle cell enemia illness. I would thank my mom for how she raised me and make her know that she has truly impacted my life. I would give my crying grandmother one last hug in an attempt to comfort her, even though I would be the one who would need comfort. I would request that my Dad work twice as hard to take care of the family.

I would make it a point of duty to see my friend Nneka-Shay one last time and have a laugh with her, reflecting on everything we did together and even the (Jordan Francis)- "girls trippin over me" joke. I would talk on the phone in a 3 way conversation with my boys Jerome and Lovell, just making jokes and honoring life. I would have one last meal with my closest of friends: Pete, Camille, Mandy, Stephanie, Lovell, Jerome, Nneka-Shay, Candice, Hussein, Martiquoi.

I would make sure I thank Mrs. Thomas for her strong faith in me, and her love and care. I would wish her the best and hope that she continues to inspire both young and old. I would definitely tell Camille that I think she is beautiful and I admire her quirks. I would tell Stephanie that I understand her and that I wish her the best in life. I would have to receive on of Shamaia's great hugs, and have her pray for me. I would visit Mrs. Thomas' grade 10's and improvise with them one last time; trying my last efforts to convince them to continue taking drama.

I would go back to NACI, and hug Tanika for a long time till it gets awkward. I would hang out in the music room with Bhanu and Ruby, and hear Mandeep sing "Drops of Jupiter". I would run jokes with Ijabo, and in some strange way she would cheer me up. I would Dance with Lynne in the hallways and say "MOVE ALONG" to whoever opposed. I would make sure Donovan takes pictures, and make him know that he is going to be successful in poetry or photography. I would thank Mr. Oland and Mrs. Weber for their confidence in me, and igniting the flames for my vision.

While writing this, I became slightly depressed. However, I'm thankful that today is not my last day, and I don't want to wait for it to be my last day, to do all of these things.
I live for today, and I just want you all to know you're important to me. I cherish all of my friend in their own specific way. Live Free, Love Truly, and that's my L.A.W

All Good Things Must Come to an End

Hey World,

Like the sands in the hour glass so are the days of our lives,
all good things must come to an end.
Like the outstanding season of Glee,
all good things must come to an end.
Like the airing of the Oprah talk show,
all good things must come to an end.
Like the fertility of a woman's womb,
all good things must come to an end.
Like the wonders of Michael Jackson,
all good things must come to an end.
Like the days spent at Fletcher's Meadows S.S
all good thing must come to an end.

It is now over. It was my first and last year at Fletcher's Meadows S.S. I experienced a lot in this past year, and grew so much! I had a lot of first at this school: first semi-formal, first film project, first media fest, first mainstage production. I've also had a lot of lasts, last time having a spare, last time walking to school, last time eating in a high school cafeteria, last time having pity high school arguments, last time dealing with high school drama, last time having a high school sweetheart.

I must say that is was definitely second semester that changed me as a person, and made me a lot stronger. Mrs. Thomas was an outstanding, marvelous, heaven-bound, understanding, comical, beautiful, intelligent, high-moral, fabulously fierce teacher and role-model. She ascended the role as a drama teacher, and became an actor's coach, a counselor/advisor, and even a mom.

Being a member of Eminence Production Company will truly be an unfathomable experience. I have grown so much as an artist, a student, an actor, and as an individual. The theoretical skills that I have learned along with the life lessons gained, will genuinely stay with me for the rest of my life. I came into the class expecting greatness, and a lot of growth, I received what I was hoping for and actually discovered the type of person I am. I will continue to be prominent, and strive for idiosyncrasy. There are no limitation except the ones we make for ourselves, and that's my L.A.W

Race Against the clock!

Hey world!

Am I going to make it! It is a race against the clock at this point. I have so many things to do, and fast approaching deadlines. When I try to settle down and do my work I don't even know where to start. It is so overwhelming that it painful. I have to finish all my blogs, memorize my monologue, do a business report, work on my 3 other reports, find my articles for my business summatives, plan out my portfolio, bind my package book for my relationship scene, and the list goes on with the amount of work. To top it off my dad just told me to go mow the lawn, is he insane?
Parents are so extra! Asking me to cut the lawn, are they wack? Do you know how much homework I have. I'll be happy to cut the lawn, after I'm done my: 24 hour assignment, 36 blogs, portfolio assembling, business report, tragic monologue... jeez.
Alright, time to work! Sobbing over the amount of work isn't going to get it done, it's just going to make you break out and look ugly! and that's my L.A.W

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Hey World

As the school year is coming to an end, I just want to let everyone know that classes are becoming brutal. The workload is so intense it can make models breakout, grown men cry, and the holiest of holy commit a sin. A lot of assignments are piling up on each other and at the end of the day, the students that endure this hurricane are the ones that will succeed, making their way to the top; feeling good with there 80+ percentage.

I truly discovered that procrastination is a terrible vice for one to have, as it only brings you pain, misery, stress, and a whole lot of hurt. Things should never be put off, sure I enjoy hanging out and just chilling in my leisure time like the next average joe, but that is not necessarily wise.

I rather work a decent amount throughout the year, than to work my guts out in one night. That is very unhealthy! Why not spend 2 hours every day on an assignment due in two weeks, than spend 24 hours straight the night before. Know what I mean? Ultimately, we need to realize that the concept slow and steady wins the race really does exist, and that's my L.A.W

Ashes to Dust

Hey World,

A couple days ago was the tragic death of Tiffany Gayle, a grade 10 student at Fletcher's Meadows S.S.
The reason behind her passing has been generated through "he said" and "she said", but it was just recently that the truth was uncovered by the police. This is a truly tragic time for the Fletcher's community, as violence triumphs yet again; correspondingly, the views on the community is corrupted. I hope that Tiffany Gayle's soul is resting in a better place, and I am unhappy that I didn't get to know her. It makes me think of how fragile life is, and how we need to love on one another, because tomorrow is promised to no man. Don't miss me and love on me when I'm gone, miss me and love on me when I am alive and well. That's how we should treat one another.

RIP TIFFANY GAYLE, YOU WILL TRULY BE MISSED BY MANY

Legit information:

The father and stepmother of a 15-year-old Brampton, Ont. girl have been charged with beating her to death.

Police declined to release many details about the death of Tiffany Gayle, but confirmed that she was killed in the home she shared with the people accused of killing her.

“The investigators have described her injury as alarming and excessive,” said Constable J. P. Valade, a spokesman for Peel Regional Police.

Emergency crews were first called to her house on Savita Road, a residential street of single-family houses on the northern edge of Brampton, around 9 a.m. Saturday.

After two days of investigation, a post-mortem determined the cause of her death as blunt-force trauma and police classified it a homicide. On Tuesday, they arrested Fredrick Gayle, 42, and Elizabeth Gayle, 43.

Both have been charged with second-degree murder. They will be kept in police custody until they can be brought to court Wednesday.

Const. Valade said police are trying to determine if the girl had been abused before her death.

“Essentially, physical abuse of a child doesn’t usually start with a [homicide]. There’s usually a pattern that might not be reported to police,” he said.

Ms. Gayle, a grade 10 student at Fletcher Meadow Secondary School, also lived with a brother and possibly a step-sister. Police weren’t sure what would happen to them, but said that if they needed parental care, they would be placed with relatives or assisted by the Children’s Aid Society.

Hopefully justice is served, and everything works out in God's will, and that's my L.A.W

Sonnet

Hey World,

I felt poetic, so I decided to write a sonnet. Don't laugh. Just read in awe.

How foolish it is to fall in love?
Why not make a bridge and jump over it?
If you should fall, please do pray up above,
and hope that he takes you out of that pit.

Sickly you long to hear your lover's voice,
How tragic that you're trapped in confusion.
To love is to make a sorrowful choice,
convinced, by a deceitful delusion.

Love, is unarguably a monster.
It blinds naive fools, and it breaks stern rules.
Love ultimately leads to disaster.
It blinds naive fools, and it breaks stern rules.

I will refuse to be deemed as stupid.
That is why I am avoiding cupid.
Trying to dodge the edge of his arrow,
and save myself the hurt, pain, and sorrow.

and that's my L.A.W

Glee End.

Hey World,

I was just doing some homework today, while listening to music. Well what I do is, I have microsoft open while I type away, and my internet is open as well on youtube where I play my favourite songs or what not. So Today, I was listening to a whole bunch of Glee songs, and it just occurred to me that Glee's first season is done :(

I am so happy that the show is a hit, but yet again here I am devastated that I'm going to have to wait till 2011 to watch back my favourite show on earth. What makes matters worst guys is that I realized I missed the auditions for the next season :(
Woe is me! So hopefully all goes exceptionally well, and as life goes on I want an opportunity to open that will allow me to get cast in this WONDERFUL, SENSATIONAL, and BREATH-TAKING television program.

I guess I can classify this blog LIKE A PRAYER, and that's my L.A.W

Dennis Rodman

Hey World,

Here is the research as promised, on Dennis Rodman.

Dennis Rodman was born in Trenton, New Jersey, on May 13, 1961. His father, Philander, would end up deserting the family when Rodman was only three, leaving his mother Shirley to try to raise her son and his two younger sisters without a father figure. As a kid, Rodman played sports, but given his small size, there was nothing fantastic about his athletic childhood. As Rodman often says, he was just regular.
When Rodman graduated from high school, he was only five foot eleven, and had failed, throughout four years, to make the varsity basketball squad. He couldn't find a place to fit in, and bounced from job to job. At one point he worked as a janitor for the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, and on a dare from a friend, stuck the handle from his mop through a gift shop grate and stole fifteen watches. According to Mark Seal in Playboy, "he was arrested, jailed for a night and released after he told the cops where the watches were." The incident passed, but it contributed to the problems Rodman was having with his slacker lifestyle. The arrest infuriated his mother, who was tired of her son's inability to grow up. She threatened Rodman with an ultimatum. He had a choice: he could go to college, find another job, or, following in the footsteps of his father, enter the military. Rodman didn't choose. Getting no response, his mother packed his bags and kicked him out of the house.

Dennis Rodman

Hey World,

Today was the day where I verified my tragic monologue character, for my final exam. The students in Mrs. Thomas' Acting Academy each had to come up with a famous person with a tragic life, and then create a monologue retelling their story.

And of course, I have to end the year with a bang. So, it's only obvious that I do the infamous Dennis Rodman! This ever changing hair coloured rebel is a very interesting celebrity with a deep background story to show for it.

I will post more information about Dennis Rodman in future blogs as I research more about him. All I know is that, I am hoping for the best and I smell a pen throw coming. And that's my L.A.W

I believe the Children Are Our Future

Hey world,

I must say that I was truly blessed today. I had the privilege to see a fine group of grade 10 students present monologues for their Acting For T.V & Film class. I've been working with these kids for the past few months now, and it was so remarkable to see their individual growths.

They have learned so much from their amazing teacher, and today it showed. Their song choices were on point, their costuming was tried for, and they had such strong characterizations. I am just in awe, they are such a terrific class, and I wish each and every one of them the best on their future endeavours.

These children are our future, they are strong, and the older generation needs to invest in them and invest in us. The media and society says the youth is corrupted nowadays, but it doesn't have to be that way. We as individuals need to change our mentality and be extremely optimistic.

We need to Believe...and that's my L.A.W

I leave you with this song, I hope it inspires you

Mortal Kombat Rebirth

Hey world,

As you can see above, this is the pitch for the next Mortal Kombat Movie: Mortal Kombat Rebirth. Mortal Kombat is my favourite video game franchise ever! I've been a fan of this series for 12 years. I love the fantasy aspect, and it has intense characters that build to its deep storyline.

Anywho, 2 years ago it seemed that Mortal Kombat came to its "FATALITY", because Midway became bankrupt. I was devastated after hearing this information, I was ready to just give up on gaming in general. However, today I discovered that some one was working on a possible Mortal Kombat Movie for the future. What's interesting is that, Warner Bros is the new franchise in charge of MK, and they took an interesting spin on the series. The storyline has been altered, and things are more dark/gruesome, which is fine with me.

At the end of the day I am just glad that MK has been reborn. God is truly good to me, and that's my L.A.W.

Glee Update

Hey world,

Glee was outstanding tonight! Absolutely spectacular. It met my expectations in so many levels. More to come

A little update

Hey world,

It's been a while since I posted my last blog. Here's just an update of what's going on:

I was casted in F.M.S.S'Mainstage Production and my show is next week
I am heading to Los Angeles the week after my performance,
and I am currently balancing work at wonderland on top of all of this.

A Gleeful Epiphany

Hey world,

Today I realized how much I love Glee. I was having a great day, because I changed my hair and got a lot of compliments from several people. To add to my morale boost, expert fashion consultants came to our acting academy to give each student individual advice/tips. I was graciously complimented and told that I was a perfect 10, and had a rectangular shape (Which is a good thing). So my day was starting off uber awesome.

However, it was during the end of the day that ruined things for me. Rehearsals were a disaster because of the whole photoshoot drama. THESE PEOPLE MADE ME GO LAST! Ugh, I was definitely upset. And they clearly know me to be a "Divo", so then why in GOD's name would you put me to go last. Anywho, when I went last, the makeup artist said she had to rush out, so she didn't get to do me properly like the other 11 cast members. I think God was testing me. Anyway, I didn't really like any of my photos from the photoshoot, so today was definitely a bust because of the inconsideration of others.

HOWEVER, upon arriving home, I got hmwk out of the way, took a nice long shower, and watched my favourite T.V show Glee. IT CHANGED MY DAY. The episode was so amazing. I was smiling throughout. I mean, it was absolutely brilliant. I SWEAR TO YOU I CRIED TEARS OF JOY. I don't know what's wrong with me, I thought for a split second I was mentally ill, or my hormones were acting up; but the reason behind those tears, was my deep love for Glee.

GOD BLESS the director/creator/screenwrite/ and actors of glee. Glee isn't just a comedy, it is a comforter, and that's my L.A.W

A talk with a multi-millionaire

Hey world,

The past few days have been simply organic. There was a multi-millionaire named Domo Kovasaic that came in to the Acting Academy, to share his wisdom. The experience itself was awe-inspiring, simply because of the struggles he had faced in his life; zero to hero stories are the greatest ones. Anywho, Domo told us about his success and his views on life, and it was quite interesting. There was a concept that he emphasized called thinking out of your mind, and it was one of the most intriguing theories I have ever heard in my life. More info will be added pertaining to this experience, along with photos. Stay tuned.

Challenge 2

Hey World,

My acting academy class, is an extreme one to say the least. Every two weeks we are divided into teams and given a specific challenge. A couple weeks ago each team was given a box of pizza and we had to make a scene incorporating that prop.

This week, we were given the task to find an agent, acting school, director/producer, photographer, and actor. This was very difficult, due to the short time frame we had, and how demanding each of these items were. However, my quadrant came up with the idea to approach this task utilizing "divisional labour", meaning we would break up the targets and let each person be in charge of a certain target. However, that plan backfired, as one person took on more than what she could have handled and resulted in our group failing miserably.

This experience taught me one of too things, I get irritated easily, and I need to improve my teamworking skills. I personally love the divisional labour style of teamwork, beacause at the end of the day, I just get to do me, while you do you; there is little to no communication with divisional labour. However, this isn't a wise approach, because a team must work together keeping in mind their weaknesses and strengths. My teams mistake was that we allowed people to take on more than what they could have chewed, and that was unrealistic. I only took on one of those options, which was inviting an actor to our class, and I was successful. Nevertheless, my team still failed because overall we did not accomplish every task. Thus, the saying is proven: "A team is only as strong as their weakest link".

At the end of the day, I am going to have to learn to deal with my peer's incompetence, because nobody's perfect, and it is our imperfections that keep life interesting, and that's my L.A.W

What Matters?

Hey World,

This week my Acting Academy went to see an award-winning Aboriginal play at the Factory Theatre called Where the Blood Mixes. I wasn’t too excited over the play, but I still enjoyed myself. It’s funny, during our debrief of our excursion, a lot of my colleagues said they enjoyed this play but they probably would have had never seen it on their own. This exemplified how the aspect of theatre is dieing in the younger generations. Nowadays, everybody wants to go to the movies, and stuff their faces with popcorn. But very rarely do you see teenagers watching a play outside of school. I suppose this factor is another reason why I am so fixed on becoming an actor for T.V and Film, rather than theatre, because the glory and fame is bountiful.

Something interesting happened Downtown after the play. We were roaming through the Eaton Centre, which is a extraordinary mall, and a couple of my friends were shocked to see a man wearing pink shorts. I personally didn’t see the big deal, I mean this guy was rocking it. I am by no means a homosexual, but I am very tolerant of other people’s lifestyles, culture, religion, and beliefs. I feel that the younger generation is isolated from the “real world”, and they are so fixed in having the “high school mentality”; meaning, when teens see transgender, gay, lesbian, or anyone out of the ordinary they automatically deem them as something negative.

So I discovered 2 things that day. The culture of theatre was dieing among young people, and the ignorance among young people was growing.

I don’t know if that guy rocking the pink shorts was gay, and quite frankly I don’t care. I mean, he seemed happy, and that is all that matters. Judge not lest ye be judged. At the end of the day, I just want to be happy, and that’s my L.A.W

Organic Olunike

Hey World!

I was inspired 2 days ago by a well established Canadian Actress. Olunike Adeliyi, came to my Acting Academy class thanks to the combined efforts of myself and my teacher. It's funny how everything started really. I believe it was divine intervention.

I first met Olunike when I was accompanying my teacher at a Dance Showcase. It was so random how their paths crossed. Keep in mind that they did not see each other in about 15 years. And then boom, they reunite, and we learn how successful this former student has gotten. She has starred in the T.V series Flashpoint, and she will be starring in Saw 7.

Olunike answered many questions for my class, pertaining to the Acting Industry. Giving us great advice about agencies, telling us about auditions, informing us about how it feels like to work on a professional set, etc. She also made comments about life in general, and shared several insightful thoughts. Olunike told us that it was the city that “trained” her. This statement really stood out for me, because THIS was the EPITOME of an eye-opener. By observing others, and studying how the world works, this alone can help an artist hone their craft. She overcame the odds and went to New York enrolling herself in a theatre school, and by pursuing her dreams, she eventually made it.

I was starstruck and proud that a Black Bramptonian student of Mrs. Thomas, made it in this industry. This field IS NOT impossible to get into. It just takes great determination, and perseverance to make it. I am no different than Olunike. By seeing her success, I am just that much more eager to pursue this wonderful dream. I can make it, and that’s my L.A.W

University

Hey world,

Today I went to my York University Audition for their theatre program. It was very inspirational to say the least. I was refreshed when I saw the amount of talent other young people had that I've never seen before. Today was the day I realized how small my world was, and how big and interesting the real world is.

It's a whole other ball game outside the walls of high school, and I can't wait to start playing, and that's my L.A.W

Photos and more info will be added shortly.

My Season

Hey world,

In the bible it says that to everything there is a season. A time to laugh, a time to cry, a time to harvest, a time to feast, a time for joy and a time for sorrow. I must say that my season of happiness is just beginning.

I am happy to announce that I have been casted as Juror #10 for my school's mainstage production, 12 angry jurors. I am really excited about this performance, as I have always dreamt to play a villain rather than the hero.

On a lighter note, my favorite T.V series, Glee, is re-airing with a new season.

Imma Be... A Star

That's the Black Eyed Peas' law. But now it's mine.

You're Up!

Hey world,

Yesterday I auditioned for the Mainstage Production at my school. The competition looked fierce. There was a total of 50 students auditioning, but they only needed 12. Which can be a bit nerve-wrecking. However, I went in there nervous as heck, but did the best of my ability. I auditioned for the main antagonist of the play, because I wanted to step out of the pattern of playing the "good" guy.
I was satisfied with my audition after reanalyzing the experience a dozen times. Now all what's left to do is wait.
Wish me luck

Metamorphosis

Hey world,

I just wanted to say that I envision big changes coming soon, in terms of my physical appearence. Can you imagine the perfect you? I mean, the you that you wish you could be. Ripped, fair-skinned, charismatic, charmer, etc. Well I always "picture" the ideal perfect Leighton Alexander Williams, but I'm tired of envisioning this man, I want to become him.

I decided to go through a process of metamorphosis. I hope to become this emaculate superstar by may. I know it's not going to be easy, but nothing truly desired in life, should be easily attainable. My look will be changing, as i plan to up my game. I believe that I already have swag, but since I recently became employed, I am able to step up my game that much more.

Buh-bye Sean Kingston, hello Will Smith (Inside joke), and that's my law

Lady Gaga

Hey world,

I just discovered that yesterday was my favorite singer Lady Gaga's 24th birthday. So I just thought it would be best to have a blog dedicated to her.

I am Lady Gaga's biggest fan, and I'll follow her until she loves me, I will be her paparazzi! Seriously, I love this woman because she is new, different, idiosyncratic, fierce, and most importantly she knows who she is as a singer and an individual. Lady Gaga has her flaws, and she knows it, but she doesn't let that stop her or hold her down. She presses forward and lives the life of the grammy-winning singer that she is.
The first time I ever heard of this woman, was during an elimination episode of SYTYCD. She was performing her first song Just Dance, and her performance was captivating to say the least. I love her techno/robotic sound, and it's that fresh new "oomph" that the music industry needs.

Lady Gaga continued to amaze me, as she changed her style and found herself as a bold individual. I fell in love with her. Not only are all of her songs great, she performs with everything she's got. This woman is a true artist. SHE LOVES HER CRAFT. You can see the passion she brings in every performance, and what's the icing on the cake is that she is memorable. Everyone who has seen the MTV award show remembers Gaga's performance of PokerFace, especially the ending where her robotic "nipples" explode.

WHO DOES THAT?! She is bold!

Also, everyone has got to remember her performance of Paparazzi where she starts bleeding from her stomach on stage, and ends her number, hanging lifeless. Lady Gaga is a visionary, and a master at what she does. She is the new queen of pop and she will remain there for a very long time. LONG LIVE LADY GAGA!!!! and that's my L.A.W

Gotta Be!

Hey World,

I was just listening to one of my favorite songs, and I decided to post a short law about it.
Listen, click the link below.

You got to be strong, don't let anyone walk all over you. God didn't bring you into tis world so you can be taken advantage of. Yo deserve the best of the best, not BS. Treat yourself and smile, don't care about your haters or your opressors. Because at the end of the day, you make your own meaning and control your own happiness. God Bless You, and I hope this message made you smile... you deserve to, and that's my L.A.W

:D

Haters

Hey world, read the caption in the black and white clip art, before you continue on with this blog entry >>>>>>>

OKAY...Let's begin

Just thought I'd speak briefly about haters today. Cause I was talking to a friend about someone who newly motivated me, and they criticized the celebrity, and myself for finding favor in him. I was speaking to this person about Zac Efron, the high school musical heart-throb. Here's a guy that came out so random, and at first I thought he was pretty lame. I mean, he just seemed cheesy to me, but I realized that he was just acting his role. I saw him again, in one of my favorite musicals, Hairspray, and this time he was more tolerable, but I still wasn't a fan. The main reason why I wasn't feeling this guy, was because of his large fanbase of simple-minded teenage girls, and his "one-trick pony" act (Doing musicals). I came to the realization that I was just a hater. I mean, here is a guy that's working with his strengths, good looking, talented (can sing, dance, and act) and I deem him as a "ONE-trick pony"?

Can I sing? No. Can I dance? not really. Can I act? I can act, but have I been in a movie, no.

Anyways, it was noticing all of Zac Efron's strengths, that made me say to myself, "I want to be like that". I want to be the next heart-throb of my generation. The guy is 22, and he is already so successful. I explained my newly gained respect for Efron to my friend, and they still had negative comments to say. In conclusion, here is a thought that I came up with, to share with the world:

It's unfortunate that one's insecurities can cause them to dislike, belittle, or even hate you. But don't give in, you know who you are, what you stand for, your flaws and benefits, etc. If you don't have any haters, then I guess you aren't that extraordinary. I mean come on, even Jesus received hate mail. Get use to the haters, that just means you're doing something right ;)
and that's my L.A.W

Movie Recommendation: Precious

Hey world,

I know I haven't posted in a while, but Spring Break has been going on marvelously. Never a dull moment thus far. Anywho, I managaged to sit down and watch an Academy award-winning/nominated movie this week and thought I might share my experience with you.

Precious, was simply intense to say the least. It was a story that followed the life of an obese african american adolescent, who undergoes abuse from her parents. Precious lives in the ghettos of harlem under welfare, and if things couldn't get any worse, she is raped and impregnated by her father...twice. This movie was very powerful, as it showed the true meaning of strife and hardships. Precious faced many challenges, and it seemed as if giving up was the only option, but with help she managed to press along and make it through.

This movie caused me to do a bit of thinking, because sometimes I feel that my problems are extremely big and I fall into a "Woe is me" state. When in reality, my little issues are nothing compared to others. I also relate to Precious and empathize for her, because although I come no where close of living a similar life to her's, I know what it's like to be obese. For 2 years, I was overweight, and it was a serious problem that I faced. It really stressed me out, and I was always in a state of depression, because of how self-conscious I was. However, precious has to deal with being obese plus so much more! I mean she gets HIV from her father! Who does that?

This movie was truly tragic and it is a movie that causes one to stop and think about life. Think about what's going on and see if the tunnel you're in has an exit.

The acting was also superb in this movie, Mariah Carey and the other minor characters were just alright, but I believe that Gabourey and Monique really showed how intense black actresses can be. 8/10, and that's my L.A.W

The Academy Awards

Hey world,

This years Academy Awards was interesting to say the least. Let's start with the red carpet and fashion. I love girls who have wild sides. I honestly do. Exoctic, sexy, intelligent, and brave. All of these characteristics sum up Jennifer Lopez. Did you see her bubble wrap dress, LMAO! Sorry, I just had to ridicule her, I couldn't resist. Still love her though. But best dress, and the best looking girl was most definitely Zoe Saldana (Lead Female in Avatar), talk about stunning.

Moving on to the actual award show. The most memorable moments for me were:

The dance piece - Although I wasn't wowed the first time watching it, I had another look on youtube, and BOY was it exquisite. I love the soundtracks, and overall it was a great performance. This was so you think you can dance material.

Monique Winning Best Supporting Actress - Finally! My girl Monique won an award. Although I have not seen the movie precious, from the parts that I did see, Monique was a real raw character. I felt that as the only black woman running in the nominations for this category, winning this award was extra spectacular, because she was credited by merit and colour was not a boundary for Monique.

Ben Stiller being ridiculous - Talk about over done. Did you see he cheap Avatar tail?

George Clooney looking grumpy on camera- HAHHAHA, George Clooney was such a grumpy guy that night, and very awkward at that. In the beginning when the hosts were introducing the nominees and roasting each of them; Clooney, was giving the hosts the evil eye when it was his turn to get roasted. Too bad it's not on youtube, that would have been a hit!

Gabourey Sidibe posing up on stage - I love this girl! She is living big (no pun intended). Gabby is soaking up all of this fame and being a happy young woman. God bless her heart. She is definitely precious. I AM OUTRAGED, that she did not win the award. I mean come on, will she ever be the lead in a movie again? Let's get real here. She needed this award more than any of the other nominees. I'll continue my thoughts on this award in the last memorable highlight. (See Below)

Sandra Bullock suprising everyone - Why did she win? The blindside? What? Why? How? If anyone should have one that award asides from Gabourey, it should have been the Queen of the Oscars, Meryl Streep. I mean, I am glad for Sandra Bullock, I am, but she didn't deserve this award. Maybe next year she could have took home an oscar, but this year, it should have went to someone else. With this said... the nominees in this category were all fierce, so it could have been anyones game...except that bald girl. LOL. Just kidding.

All in all, a mediocre show. I didn't enjoy it much this year, and I can only hope for the best. My heart goes out to Gabourey. But nothing desired is going to come easy, we have to work hard to accomplish our dreams, so maybe next time Gabby, and that's my L.A.W

The Storm Has Passed (Post-Branding)

Hey world,

So branding was officially over last week, as both groups presented/pitched their ideas. It was Epiphany Production Company against Eminence Production Company, and it's a no brainer who the winner was... EMINENCE! I mean, the other group did a good job, what really stood out for me was the lamps and bedsheets. I mean it changed the entire look of the drama room. However, there were several parts in which they lacked eminence.

I believe that our group took going second as an advantage, and we did everything that Epiphany Production did, and then some! They were sore losers, but I'm pretty sure they are going to come around and embrance the true essence of Eminence Productions Company.

Friends?

Hey world,

Today I was thinking about the concept of friendship. It is such a fickle idea if you really look at it. One minute you can be on great terms with a friend, and then the next minute the two of you are at war. Let's take today into consideration. Today was the Branding Competition kick off for the Acting Academy. BOY WAS THE COMPETITION FIERCE! As I stated in previous blogs before, I was separated from the majority of my closer friends, and being on opposing teams really affected our friendship. I started seeing them in a different light, a negative one.

What's even more interesting is that we got into so many arguements, we didn't talk to each other for a while, but when all was said and done we shared laughter and smiles this evening and went home on a happy note. I don't know how long that will last, cause we are a clique of dramatic kids, but I'm happy for the moment now. You see that's what friendship is! You fight with someone, and you can be infuriated with that person, ONLY because you expect better from them. That's love. Whenever I got angry at my friends, I always thought to myself: "just wait till the competition is over, and then everything will be back to normal". War really changes a person, and that's what the competition felt like today. However, it's done now, and I can focus on the qualities I like about all of them .

Kayypea is very upfront, and I never have to guess how she is feeling. Our personalities cling, and no matter how brutal an arguement gets, we find a way to resolve it and move on.

Demi Oliver is just chilling, and although at times we get infuriated with each other, we're dudes and after blowing off some steam we can be the best of brejens again. Besides, his rants are hilarious.

Little Ms. Bubbzi is just a firecracker, and she is genuinely a nice person, and I think that was what got me angry. She let's people walk over her, but I never get mad at her, I get mad at her circumstances. Love her to death though.

My wife Camillion is understandable and I would say she is the peacemake to our group. That's why she's my wife I guess *thumbs up* :)

and lastly, Christian Girl is always staying out of trouble, which I love.

With all this said, when in a friendship or a relationship and you are on the verge of giving up; Always, weigh the pros and the cons before you make your decision. At the end of the day, if you are happy remaining with that person, and if having them in your life is beneficial for you, then please make the right choice and work on your relationship. Nothing great should come easy, and that's my law.

Method Acting is Extreme

Hey World,

Today I was just thinking about the concept of Method Acting. My drama teacher told our class that we would each have to take on a challenging method character. Inevitably, we must become this character and the more vulnerable we feel the better. The process of selecting a suitable character was really hard for me, because I didn't want to do one that was too easy like becoming a nerd, or a ganster, homosexual, etc. After days of contemplating, I finally made my decision, and I came up with the idea of becoming... (DRUMROLL) a mentally disabled person.

Now I know this sounds very controversial, but in the spirit of method acting, this can only be fun. I already know that the community will be my audience. It is doing the little things that will make this experience really powerful. While at a cashier, the simplest twitch can really change the way someone sees you or treats you. While on the bus, having a conversation with an invisible friend might be frightening/funny for a bystander to watch. I am actually ready for the stares, the judging, the ridiculing, the sympathizing, and the laughs I might receive.

If Christian Bale, and other well known actors are willing to go through the extremes in playing a role, why can't I do something so pety? I realize that acting is what I want to do, and it is evident that men must look at their role-models to strive for their own personal perfection. We must be ready to push towards our dreams, for fear is a movable obstacle, and that's my L.A.W

Branding

Hey world,

Last week was hectic, due to the intense branding competition that has been going on in the Acting Academy. The class was split in half, and each team had to brand the 2010 Acting Academy. For those of you who don't know, branding is a term where a group of people create a label for themselves, that makes them recognizable. For example, McDonalds is a brand on it's own, one can spot a McDonalds restaurant for several reasons: the TITLE of the restaurant, the giant "M" (A.k.a their logo), the workers in UNIFORM, etc.

Companies are all branded, whether it's a fast food company, or clothing line, everything and anything significant in the business world, is branded. So as you can see, the whole idea or concept is vitally important.

If you really stop and think, we are bombarded with so many brands, and the most successful ones are successful because of their uniqueness (Nike, Subway, Adidas, McDonalds, Universal, etc). That is what my group is aiming for, something unique, fresh, and has never been done before. You see, we want the Acting Academy to transform into a fierce company that will soon be gloriously recognized. This small concept of branding is so critical as it can help decide if a company makes it or not in this world. Soon, and very soon, we will rise to fame because of our prominent brand.

Criticism shouldn't Crush, it should Build

Hey world,

Today was hectic. I rushed to school this morning because I woke up late, and I still arrived late EVEN though I live a ten minutes walk away from my school. I blame my branding colours... but that's another story and an entire blog post on its own.
Anyways, my homeroom teacher got infuriated by not only my lateness, but the continuous lateness and absences of the students in the class. She spoke firmly about our reckless habits, and dished out some real raw and cold tough love. Her words were like iron, because she spoke strongly about what she believed, and she made absolute sense. Lateness isn't tolerated in the real world, so why should it be tolerated in schools. I am not one to be late all the time, but that's irrelevant, the fact was that I was late on the day she called the class out on it, and I was penalized for that.
However, a couple people broke down in the class today, and there was just a depressing aura that filled the class atmosphere. This negative vibe was unnecessary because, when people who really mean you well critique you, always remember that it is to build you and make you a stronger person. If they didn't love you, or if they didn't see your potential to do better, they wouldn't care so much about your flaws. It's like an old jamaican proverb that I couldn't seem to understand: "A madda only beat har child outta love and compassion". This means, that punishment or consequences are there to help someone.

It was today that I realized how similar teachers and parents are, they can come down on you really hard, but in the end they just want what's best for you and they are preparing you for the real world. Criticism shouldn't crush an individual it should build them, and that's my L.A.W.

Bad Boys, so hot?

Hey world,

I am confused! Why are black women complaining and speaking lowly of black males? It was just the other day I heard a group of black girls saying: "black guys are waste yutes and they're unfaithful, it's all about white men, etc..."

Hmph...I can tackle this on so many different levels. What's the matter ladies? I swear it was a couple years ago your gender deemed "bad boys" as attractive. It was because of that "law" or "fact", why I wasn't ever smooth with the ladies in middle school, because as the saying goes "nice guys finish last". There was even a song that Destiny's Child wrote, "Soldier".
In that song, it stated that women should aim for men that are "hood", men that wear grills, men that are "street", etc...
DESTINY'S CHILD- SOLDIER (Link below)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucoSdNM2Atw

I'm guessing all of that changed? It was the media that was telling black men how to portray themselves, as basketball-loving, trouble-making, grill-bleaming, pants-sagging, criminals. What's worse is that iconic women like Destiny's Child come out with a song that supports this stereotype. I mean it's absolutely revolting. Come on ladies; yeah, Jabrawn has grills, swag, and a mean walk! But he's also got Kadiane and Shantoya on the side. I mean is being cheated on, impregnated, and then left, all worth it? Black men are soldiers like you asked for, and soldiers are ruthless. The true Bad boys that you ladies love ever so much, will end up in prison, get infected with HIV, and then come home and give it to you. Yum, now that's attractive, that's real hood love!
Wake up ladies. You deserve better. You deserve a guy that won't take advantage of you, one that both loves and respects you. With a career, and a great sense of direction. Let the media promote that, and brainwash Black Men to have that mentality, and you'll see if you continue to speak lowly of our kind. I guess the lesson to be learned here is be careful what you wish for, and that's my L.A.W

First Comes Happiness, Then Comes Success

Hey world,

A few days ago in class, we were reading an article called "The Vision Thing" by Karen Kondazian. It was very inspiring, as it spoke about several themes relating to the acting industry, and it made small commentaries about life. One section in the article that stood out for me, was when Dr. Maurer said: "The only reason we want to be successful and on a series making a lot of money is we think that that's what's going to make us happy. We're all striving to be happy. What we lose along the way is the realization that we can all creat that happiness, even in the face of all of these adversities". What Dr. Maurer is saying, is that many people want to have money, fame, or a material object in order to make them happy. However, what we don't realize is that we should strive to be happy before we strive for the "catalysts" of happiness.

For instance, this relates to my life, because I always tell myself that by becoming an actor I will be happy. But what if I don't become an actor, can I still be happy? Human beings want success, because they feel that it will bring their happiness along with it, but that is not the case. We have to seek happiness first. Dr. Maurer continues by saying: "That's why we are amazed by the Mother Theresas and Christopher Reeves and nelson Mandelas of the world: They can live amidst pain, poverty, imprisonment, and still find a way to create their own beauty". This insightful statement alone opens the eyes of many, and it really opened my eyes. Everyone makes their own meaning out of life, and at the end of the day we control our happiness, not our fame and possessions. Although materialistic things like that can help us be happy, it is solely our choice, because their are a lot of rich people out there that are unhappy.

To wrap up, we must be in control of our emotions and not let the things around us dictate how we live or how we feel. Happiness starts from within, and it's attainable no matter what situation someone's in, and that's my L.A.W.

Movie Recommendations for you

Hey world, in class we were discussing several topics and one of them was each and everyone’s favorite movies. It got me thinking as to which movie was my favorite, and the reasons behind it. When you force yourself to pick a favorite movie, how do you choose? Does it come easy? What do you look for in a movie to make it be a potential favorite? I asked myself all of these questions, and after contemplating, I finally came up with my top 3.

My Favorite movie is:

Tyler Perry’s- THE FAMILY THAT PREYS (and yes that’s how you spell it)

In this Tyler Perry production, viewers follow the lives of 2 families and the business world. The Family that Preys covers several different themes such as: love, patience, acceptance, deception, etc. It also makes a commentary on human nature, teaching us that people will be forced to make choices and whether good or bad they must live with the consequences. “I Hope You Dance”, the soundtrack for the film, states that “time is a real and constant motion that is always rolling us along, tell me who wants to look back on their youth and wonder where those years have gone?”. This touching statement is proven in the movie, and the viewers can recognize that life should not be taken for granted. Amidst the dramatic lives of the cartwrights and the business world, one can find themselve by relating to the characters. After watching this film, you can wonder or ask yourself several questions: “Is the bitterness I’m feeling towards my parents healthy and proactive? Should I sacrifice happiness for stability? Will playing it safe in life better me in the long run?”. As you can see, each of these few questions can relate to almost anyone and I’m certain that every single individual that watches this film will be touched in someway, and think about the greater meanings of life.

Second on the list is no other than:

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA

This movie is nothing less than excellent. The characters are all played extremely well and the storyline is rich. Meryl Streep does it again, she is ruthless and remarkably brilliant as Miranda Priestly editor and chief of Runway Magazine. She hires Andrea Sacks (Anne Hathaway) as her personal assistant, who is new to the fashion industry but has a sharp and interesting resume. This film shows how cut-throat the fashion industry is; the title says it all. It also covers multiple concepts and teaches valuable lessons: life is not always better at the top, although sacrifices must be made for success, losing the sense of who you are is not worth it. Ultimately, it takes a lot for a guy to promote a chick flick proudly, so take my word for it and go see The Devil Wears Prada.

And finally my 3rd favorite movie is without a doubt:

THE MIST

In this phenomenal film, townspeople are forced to live inside a grocery store, due to a strange mist that succumbs the entire community. The civilians are afraid to leave the grocery store in fear of the creatures that lurk in the mist, and it is fear that slowly destroys their civilization. This movie is very entertaining and one would think that the main problem the victims face is the creatures out in the mist, but the real predators are themselves. It becomes a battle for power amongst the stranded civilians, and in their desire for establishing order and refraining from anarchy, they gradually lose their humanity. Watch this movie and see who the real creatures are?
